It was a big weekend for freshman Michael Diana (Somerset, N.J./Immaculata-Somerville) and the entire University of Scranton men's swimming & diving team, as the Royals registered a runners-up finish at the 2017 Landmark Conference Championships.
For his efforts at the Championships, Diana was named the University of Scranton's Athlete of the Week for the period ending February 19.
Diana played a huge part in Scranton finishing second at the Landmark Championships, as he swept both diving events on the weekend to earn the Landmark's Men's Diver of the Meet award at the end of competition.
Diana started the weekend off with a first place finish in the three-meter dive on Friday night, totaling 369.95 points to take the event. In the one-meter dive on Saturday, Diana was victorious again, take the event with 389.05 points.
Diana helped Scranton finish second at the Landmark Championships for just the second time since the Royals joined the Conference in the 2007-08 season and for the first time since 2012.
