Freshman Thomas McAuliffe (Reiserstown, Md./Loyola-Blakefield) of The University of Scranton men’s golf team had a solid week as he continues a standout rookie campaign, helping the Royals go 3-0 last week. As a result, McAuliffe has been named the University’s Athlete of the Week.
McAuliffe shot a 4-over-par 75 at Stonehedge Golf Course on Friday to lead the Royals to a 309-430 win over Keystone. He matched his career-low round in breezy conditions as the Royals placed three golfers in the 70s.
A day later, McAuliffe was one of four Royals to break 80 in a pair of victories – 306-309 over Marywood and 306-454 over Clarks Summit – at Scranton Municipal Golf Course. He finished with a 79 for his seventh straight sub-80 round after carding an 82 in his first career event back in the fall.
McAuliffe and the Royals will return to action on Wednesday, April 18, when they host King’s and Marywood at 1 p.m. at Glenmaura National Golf Club.
