Junior forward Krista Osborne (Blue Bell, Pa./Gwynedd-Mercy Academy) had an impressive 24 hours as The University of Scranton field hockey team opened its 2014 season.
Osborne scored the game-winning goal in the season opener on Friday evening, then came back with three goals and an assist on Saturday afternoon as the Royals posted a pair of victories. For her efforts, Osborne has been named Landmark Conference Offensive Athlete of the Week.
In Friday evening's 1-0 victory at Muhlenberg, Osborne scored in the sixth minute when she tipped in a pass by senior midfielder Kathleen Keale (Wall, N.J./Wall). The defense made the goal stand up over the final 64 minutes.
On Saturday afternoon, Osborne scored twice in a span of 29 seconds midway through the first half to give Scranton a 2-0 halftime lead en route to a 9-0 victory over Keystone at Fitzpatrick Field. She added a goal and assisted on one by junior forward Alyssa Whitman (Bethlehem, Pa./Saucon Valley) as the Royals blew the game open with six goals in the first 11 minutes of the second half.
Osborne now has 13 goals and four assists in her career.
The Royals return to action on Saturday, Sept. 6, when they host crosstown rival Marywood at 4 p.m. at Fitzpatrick Field.
