Six University of Scranton basketball players will be honored during Senior Day ceremonies prior to the tip-offs of the men's and women's basketball games against Goucher on Saturday in the Long Center.
The women's team will take center stage first, as the team honors seniors Noelle Alicea (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) and Jaclyn Gantz (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) prior to their 2 p.m. tip-off. Head coach Trevor Woodruff will also present the Dr. Harold Davis Award, presented annually to the team's most valuable senior.
Before the men's game tips off at 4 p.m., seniors Brendan Boken (South Pasadena, Calif./Loyola), Patrick Calvey (Clarks Green, Pa./Abington Heights), Brian Farrell (Verona, N.J./Verona) and Marcus Thomas (Clarksburg, Md./Clarksburg) will be honored.
Both teams will be playing their final regular season home games. The Lady Royals have secured the top seed in the Landmark Conference playoffs and will host a semifinal game on Feb. 24. The Royals have qualified for the playoffs, but do not yet know where they will play their semifinal game.
Admission is $5 for adults (18-60) and $3 for senior citizens (61 and older) and non-University of Scranton students and children (ages 8-17). All University of Scranton students, faculty and staff, and children 7 and younger accompanied by an adult are admitted free of charge.
