Royals' Reign As Utica Fall Invitational Champions Ends Today With Runner-up Finish

CLINTON, NY—The University of Scranton men’s golf team’s reign as Utica Fall Invitational champions ended Sunday afternoon at Skenandoa Golf Club.

The four-time defending champion Royals finished second with 315, four strokes behind fellow Empire 8 Conference member Elmira College (311).  Stevens Institute was third (318), followed by SUNY Canton (325), SUNY Cobleskill A (326), Utica (343), and SUNY Cobleskill B (347).

Senior Erik Meyer (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) carded a three-over-par 74 to finish third, one stroke behind medalist Zach Meade of SUNY Canton and Jarryd tenVaanholt of Elmira College.
The Royals also received an 80 from senior Grant Gulick (Binghamton, NY/Johnson City) and sophomore Kevin Nardella (Spring Brook Township, Pa./North Pocono), 81 from junior Eric Montella (Waverly, Pa./Abington Heights), 86 from senior Josh Jimenez (Apalachin, NY/Seton Catholic Central), and an 88 from sophomore Eddie Hughes (Archbald, Pa./Valley View).

Scranton will return to action this Wednesday, September 3, against King's College at Wyoming Valley Country Club in Hanover Township beginning at 1:00 p.m.
