Nelson Named Scranton Athlete of the Week After Strong Playoff Performance
Junior attacker Taylor Nelson (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown East) made his mark on the Landmark Conference men’s lacrosse playoffs, even if it came in a losing effort. Nelson scored three goals and had three assists in The University of Scranton’s 15-9 loss to Drew in the conference semifinals, and as a result has been named The University of Scranton Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sunday, May 6.
Nelson had a pair of assists in the first half as the Royals (9-7) fell behind, 7-3, then added three goals and an assist in a span of just under 16 minutes of the second half as Scranton rallied within 10-8 midway through the third period. He finished with eight shots and a ground ball.
Nelson finished the season with a team-high 13 assists and was second on the squad in goals (28) and points (41). He now has 93 career points (66 goals, 27 assists). In four career postseason games, Nelson has eight goals and seven assists.
