The University of Scranton men's lacrosse team will begin its 2017 season by hosting Muhlenberg on Saturday at noon at Fitzpatrick Field.

The 2017 season is the 30th season in men's lacrosse history at The University of Scranton. The program boasts 204 victories all-time and a Landmark Conference championship in 2011.

The Royals, who have qualified for the Landmark Conference in each of the past six seasons and seven of nine, will be looking to open the season with a victory for the first time since 2013. Scranton is 39-28 in four seasons under head coach Doug Sage, reaching the Landmark Conference championship game in 2015.

Saturday's game is one of only two home games among the Royals' first eight games this season. They also host King's on March 8 at 5 p.m. at Fitzpatrick Field. Landmark Conference play begins on Saturday, March 25, when Scranton returns home to host Goucher at 1 p.m.

Junior midfielder Adam Drury (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) is the team's top returnee after earning all-Landmark Conference first-team honors last season. Senior attackman Jake Haimson (Montville, N.J./Montville) also returns after leading the team in goals (24) and points (30) last season.
