The University of Scranton men's soccer team held firm in both the United Soccer Coaches Mid-Atlantic Region Poll and the D3Soccer.com Top 25 rankings this week, as both polls were released late Tuesday.
In the United Soccer Coaches Mid-Atlantic Region poll, Scranton remained in sixth place. The squad who handed the Royals their first loss of the year on Saturday - Lycoming - leads the poll, followed by Messiah, Johns Hopkins and Haverford (Scranton's opponent at Fitzpatrick Field on Wednesday night). Just ahead of Scranton in the poll for the second straight week is Gettysburg.
In seventh is Landmark Conference rival Drew, followed by Eastern, another Landmark Conference foe in Elizabethtown and Franklin & Marshall, who bookends this week's Regional poll.
Meanwhile, in the D3Soccer.com rankings, Scranton remains in the top 20 at 18th overall. The Royals continue to be the only team from the Landmark Conference ranked in the Top 25 poll, as well.
Scranton, who is 5-1-0 on the year, face another stern test this evening in Haverford, who comes into tonight's match ranked 15th in the D3Soccer.com poll and 23rd in the United Coaches Division III Men's Top 25 rankings. Kick-off at Fitzpatrick Field is set for 7:30 p.m.
Last season, Haverford came to Scranton ranked 13th nationally, and the Royals battled the Fords to a 1-1 double overtime draw.
