CARLISLE, Pa. - Host Dickinson, ranked eighth in the latest United Soccer Coaches Mid-Atlantic Region poll, knocked off the University of Scranton men's soccer team on Tuesday night, 6-0, in nonconference action.
With the defeat, the Royals dropped to 7-6 overall, while Dickinson improved to 9-3-1 overall with the victory.
In the contest, Dickinson jumped out to a big lead, scoring three goals in the first 19 minutes of action to take a 3-0 edge into intermission. The Red Devils then added three more goals in the second half to take the match by six.
Overall, Dickinson had a 16-7 edge in shots in the match, while Scranton held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
In all, all seven of Scranton's shots on the night were on goal, with Dickinson goalie John Baney making six saves on the night. Freshman Jarred Corbett (Wenonah, N.J./St, Augustine Prep) of the Royals took the most shots on goal for the night for Scranton, firing two off the bench.
The University of Scranton men's soccer team returns to the pitch on Saturday, traveling to Juniata for a Landmark Conference match-up. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
