Swimming & Diving Program Names Patrick O’Dell Assistant Coach

University of Scranton men's and women's swimming & diving head coach Mark Yankovich has announced that Patrick O'Dell has joined the Royals program as an assistant coach, effective immediately.

O'Dell joins the Royals swimming & diving coaching staff off a banner career at nearby Misericordia University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Management, with a minor in Ethics, in May of 2016.

At Misericordia, O'Dell was a member of the Cougars swimming & diving team for four seasons, serving as team captain in his senior season of 2015-16. Throughout his career, he registered 12 individual top eight finishes at the MAC Championships, including five top three finishes. In the Winter of 2016, O'Dell also earned a spot on the MAC's Sportsmanship Team, as well.

Out of the pool, O'Dell has volunteered at the Geno Merli Veterans Center in Scranton and served as a lifeguard at the Greater Scranton YMCA in Dunmore since 2016.

O'Dell, who is also an Eagle Scout, is a native of Beacon Falls, Connecticut. He is working toward earning a Master's of Health Administration degree from the University of Scranton and is slated to earn it in December of 2018.

The University of Scranton men's and women's swimming & diving teams open their 2017-18 season on October 15th at Cabrini, where they will take on both Cabrini and FDU-Florham in a tri-dual meet.
