SCRANTON, Pa.—The University of Scranton men’s tennis team had three players still alive entering today’s final round of the non-team scoring Scranton Invitational at the Royal Courts.

All three, however, failed to survive their semifinal matches.

Senior co-captain David Teres (Lebanon, NJ/North Hunterdon) dropped a 6-4, 6-2 decision to eventual champion Steven Wilson of Wilkes University in the A singles.  Wilson took the title by defeating teammate Max Appello, 6-2, 6-3.  Appello advanced to the finals by taking out John Wylie of Moravian College, 6-0, 6-3.

The Royal team of sophomores Kevin Murphy (Greenbelt, Md./Gonzaga College) and Michael O’Malley (Middletown, NJ/Christian Brothers Academy) lost to Michael Kranz and Brandon Blachowski of Wilkes, 8-3, in the B doubles.

Tony Beveviono of King’s College won the B singles with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Michael Kranz of Wilkes.

The finals of the C singles and the A & B doubles were not played.
