Freshman guard Lindsay Fluehr (Bensalem, Pa./Nazareth Academy) came off the bench to spark The University of Scranton women’s basketball team to a 72-59 victory over Moravian on Saturday, Feb. 18. On the heels of that performance, Fluehr has been named The University of Scranton Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sunday, Feb. 19.
Fluehr scored a career-high 13 points, pulled down seven rebounds and dished out seven assists in 23 minutes on Saturday. She scored eight points in the first half as the Lady Royals held a 35-28 lead. She then had five points and three assists in the final four minutes as Scranton finished the game on a 19-6 run.
For the season, Fluehr is averaging 4.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 25.1 minutes per game. Her 3.2 assists rank fifth in the Landmark Conference.
The victory on Saturday clinched the No. 2 seed for the Lady Royals in this week’s Landmark Conference playoffs. They will host Catholic on Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 5:30 p.m. in the Long Center. The winner advances to the Landmark Conference championship on Saturday, Feb. 25.
