MOUNT COBB, Pa. – The University of Scranton women's golf team knocked off Wilkes, 4-0, but fell in a close match to Marywood, 3-2, in a pair of match play matches at Scranton Municipal Golf Course on Saturday afternoon.

The Royals (2-1) received wins in each match from senior Julie Cranney (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) and sophomore Brianna Stein (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge).

In the win over Wilkes, Cranney was a 9 & 8 winner at no. 3 while Stein matched that score at no. 2. Senior Katie Allen (New Milford, Conn./Immaculate Heart School) posted a 7 & 6 win at no. 1, and junior Maura McDonough (Dunmore, Pa./Holy Cross) was a 9 & 8 winner at no. 4.

Against Marywood, Stein posted an impressive 5 & 4 win at no. 2 while Cranney pulled out a 1-up victory at no. 3. But the Pacers snuck out close wins in the final two matches to pull out the victory.

The Royals will be back in action on Thursday, Sept. 14, when they host Marywood at 1 p.m. at Glenmaura National Golf Club.
