Five Royal Women's Lacrosse Players Honored For Academics

Senior defender Mary Armstrong was one of five Royals honored today for academic achievement by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA).  Joining her were fellow seniors Erin Green and Kerry Sullivan and juniors Emily Goss and Emily Towey.

Five members of The University of Scranton women’s lacrosse team were among 233 student-athletes nationwide honored today for academic achievement by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA).

Seniors Mary Armstrong (Endwell, NY/Seton Catholic), Erin Green (Merrick, NY/Sandford Calhoun), and Kerry Sullivan (Oceanport, NJ/Shore Regional), along with juniors Emily Goss (Morristown, NJ/Morristown) and Emily Towey (Abington, Pa./Abington), were named to the organization’s Academic Honor Roll.

In order to qualify, a student-athlete must be at least a junior and have a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.

Goss, an early and primary teacher education major, led the way with a 3.92 grade point average, followed by Armstrong, a biology major, with a 3.7.  Towey, a secondary education/mathematics major, and Sullivan, a nursing major, are next with 3.55, followed by Green, a marketing major, with a 3.52.
