The University of Scranton women’s tennis team found out today that its first-round match in the 2013 NCAA Division III championships against LaRoche College will take place this Friday, May 10, at 9:00 a.m. on the campus of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.
The winner of Scranton (9-7) and LaRoche (10-5) advances to Saturday’s second-round match against Johns Hopkins (18-2) at 9:00 a.m. Friday’s other first-round matches will be Mary Washington University (19-4) against St. Vincent College (15-4) at 12 noon, followed by Marywood University (12-5) against Carnegie Mellon (12-7) at 3:00 p.m.
The winner of Mary Washington/St. Vincent and Marywood/Carnegie Mellon will play Saturday at 12 noon, with Saturday’s winners advancing to Sunday’s regional final at 12:00 noon.

Scranton’s doubles’ lineup will feature junior Stephanie Boccuzzi (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) and sophomore Nicole Mahaffey (Harrisburg, Pa./Trinity) at one, junior Devon Cohen (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) and freshman Emily Walsh (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Preparatory) at two, and sophomore Megan Azzalina (Easton, Pa./Notre Dame) and senior captain Lindsay Ward (Bensalem, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) at three.
In singles, the Royal lineup will be Boccuzzi at one, Cohen at two, Azzalina at three, Walsh at four, Mahaffey at five, and sophomore Lisa-Marie Lanciotti (Northport, NY/Kings Park) at six.
Scranton will be making its second straight NCAA tournament appearance under seventh-year head coach Liz Sherman.
