Cohen Named Landmark Conference Player of the Week

Devon Cohen

Head women's tennis coach Janice Winslow said she hasn't seen a comeback in her 22 seasons as a head coach like the one senior Devon Cohen (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) pulled off last week.

Cohen saved six match points and rallied from a 5-0 deficit in the second set to pull out a 2-6, 7-5, 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles to pick up the deciding point in a 5-4 victory over Moravian on Tuesday, April 8, at Royal Courts. For her efforts, she has been named Landmark Conference Player of the Week.

After saving three of those match points in the same game, Cohen stormed back for her seventh singles victory of the season while ensuring that the Royals remained unbeaten in conference play.

Four days later, Cohen teamed with sophomore Emily Walsh (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep) for an 8-5 victory at No. 2 doubles as Scranton secured the top seed in the Landmark Conference playoffs with a 6-3 victory over Catholic on Saturday, April 12, at Royal Courts.

This is the second time in Cohen's career that she has been named Landmark Conference Player of the Week. She also earned the honor on April 22, 2013.

The Royals are back in action on Thursday, April 17, when they travel to Susquehanna for their final regular season match at 1 p.m.
