Senior Julia Frattaroli (Newtown, Conn./Newtown), sophomore Sakira Fussner (Kemptown, Pa./Kutztown Area) and freshman Kristen Denniston (Hawley, Pa./Wallenpaupack) each posted singles and doubles victories to help The University of Scranton women's tennis team open its fall season with a 9-0 win over Pratt Institute on Saturday at Royal Courts.
Frattaroli teamed with sophomore Natasha DeNunzio (Dunmore, Pa./Dunmore) for an 8-2 win at no. 1 doubles, then rolled to a 6-2, 6-0 win at no. 1 singles. Fussner paired with Denniston to post an 8-0 win at no. 3 doubles. In singles action, Fussner was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at no. 4 while Denniston matched that score at no. 6.
The Royals also received singles victories from junior Emilia Jakubek (Honesdale, Pa./Scranton Prep), 6-0, 6-0 at no. 2, from freshman Tatiana Klacko (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep) by way of 6-2, 6-3 at no. 3, and from freshman Lindsey Roberto (Princeton, N.J./Notre Dame), 6-0, 6-0 at no. 5.
The Royals will return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 12, when they host Lycoming at 4 p.m. at Royal Courts.
