Senior Julia Frattaroli (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) kicked off her season for the University of Scranton women's tennis team on Saturday, leading the Royals to a 9-0 win in their 2017-18 opener against Pratt.
For her efforts, Frattaroli was named the Landmark Conference's Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week on Monday. This marks the fourth time in Frattaroli's career at Scranton that she has earned Landmark Athlete of the Week honors, as well.
On Saturday, Frattaroli was a two-time winner on the day against Pratt.
First, in doubles, Frattaroli teamed up with sophomore Nastashia DeNunzio (Dunmore, Pa./Dunmore) at number one to take an 8-2 win. Then, in singles, Frattaroli rolled to a 6-2, 6-0 win in the number one position in the lineup, as the Royals coasted to a 9-0 win in their first match of the season.
For her career, Frattaroli has now won 28 singles matches and 34 doubles contest.
Frattaroli and the rest of the University of Scranton women's tennis team returns to action on Tuesday, hosting Lycoming at Royal Courts. Action gets underway at 4 p.m.
