SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Senior Julia Frattaroli (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) capped off a hard-fought run through the singles consolation bracket at the ITA Northeast Regionals at Skidmore on Sunday, finishing as the runner-up in the bracket.
On the day Sunday, Frattaroli kicked off play by knocking off Vanessa Lam-Tran of Geneseo, 8-4, to advance to the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket. In that quarterfinal match against Megan Brown of Union College, Frattaroli gutted out an 8-6 victory to move onto the semis.
In her semifinal match, Frattaroli coasted to an 8-3 win over Audrey Chen of the College of New Jersey to advance to the championship match of the consolation bracket. In that final contest against Natalia Pezzuco of Union, Frattaroli battled to force a third set but was unable to come back, falling 2-6, 6-4, 10-3.
Frattaroli and the rest of the University of Scranton women's tennis team returns to action on Tuesday, traveling to Lebanon Valley for a 4:30 p.m. start.
