After finishing off an historic season on the attack for the University of Scranton volleyball team, sophomore Kristin Kirwan (Park Ridge, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) was named to the All-Landmark Conference Second Team on Tuesday afternoon, the conference office announced.
For Kirwan, it marked the second straight season that she has been named to the All-Landmark Conference, as she earned First Team Honors a season ago.
In 2016, Kirwan etched her name not only in the Scranton record book, but the Landmark Conference's, as she ended the year with 558 kills, the most in a season in both program and conference history. In all, Kirwan averaged 4.07 kills per set, going into double-figures in the category 28 times throughout the course of the year.
Kirwan, who also finished second on the team in digs with 444 for the year, led the Royals to a 22-16 record for the year, as the team finished with over 20 wins in a season for the third straight season. It also marked the seventh straight season and ninth out of 10 that Scranton has advanced to the Landmark Conference playoffs, as well.
