About The Wall of Fame

The University of Scranton has enjoyed a rich tradition of athletic excellence since its humble beginnings as St. Thomas College in 1888. In 1899, the football team competed in what is believed to be the first intercollegiate athletic event at the University. Throughout the years, the University has continually been recognized as a leader in athletic and academic excellence on the Division III level of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and as a member of the Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation (MAC) and now the Landmark Conference.

In 1970, the Wall of Fame was founded to honor former student-athletes, coaches, administrators and those in the community who have been instrumental in the overall development of the University's athletics program. The University annually honors those who have distinguished themselves in the areas of intercollegiate athletics, coaching, administration and the overall promotion of the athletics department by induction to the Wall of Fame.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for the Wall of Fame, a former student-athlete must have completed his or her athletic eligibility ten years prior to the year of the class that is being inducted.  For example, a student-athlete whose athletic eligibility expired in 1991 is eligible for induction into the Class of 2001. A student-athlete does not have to have graduated from The University of Scranton in order to be eligible. For those classified as a coach, administrator and/or those in the community who have been instrumental in the overall development of the University's athletics program, there are no specific eligibility requirements.
