Senior Gracie McClatchy (Havertown, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) of The University of Scranton field hockey team and sophomore Steph Lowrey (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) of The University of Scranton women's soccer team have been named Co-Scranton Athletes of the Week after both players earned Landmark Conference Tournament MVP honors in their respective sports.
McClatchy scored a pair of goals to help lead the Royals to a 4-1 victory over Susquehanna in the Landmark Conference Championship game and the field hockey program's first Landmark title. The Havertown, Pa., native also added a goal and an assist in a semifinal victory against Elizabethtown.
Scranton will host MIT in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Wednesday afternoon at Weiss Field at 3 p.m.
Lowrey scored the first goal of the game in the 52nd minute of the Royals' 3-0 victory over Susquehanna in the Landmark Conference Championship game on Saturday. She also tallied a key goal in the 3-2 semifinal win over Elizabethtown with the game-tying goal in the 52nd minute of that contest.
The University of Scranton women's soccer team is making their fourth consecutive tournament appearance and will battle Centre College on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. The game will be played at Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio.
