Junior outfielder Megan Zinn (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) of The University of Scranton softball team enjoyed a strong start to the season that included a milestone hit during the Royals' spring break trip to Florida last week.  As a result, she has been named The University of Scranton Athlete of the Week.

Zinn batted .375 with 12 hits, including the 100th of her career, to lead Scranton to a 6-4 record during the Royals' swing through the Sunshine State. She became just the 23rd player in program history with at least 100 career hits in a 4-3 victory over Bridgewater State on Wednesday, a game in which she finished 3-for-4 at the plate.

Zinn, who had one double and one triple during the week, led Scranton with eight runs scored while also contributing four RBI. She also stole three bases and walked three times, finishing the trip with a .417 on-base percentage and a .469 slugging percentage.

A two-time All-Landmark Conference honoree, Zinn sports a .374 career batting average with 104 hits including 18 doubles, three triples, and one home run.  She has also scored 65 runs while totaling 37 RBI.

She is tied for ninth in Scranton history in career batting average, is 17th in on-base percentage, 18th in slugging percentage, tied for 19th in hits, and tied for 21st in doubles.

Zinn and the Royals host Misericorida in a non-conference doubleheader today at Magis Field.  Opening pitch of Scranton's season opener is set for 4 p.m.
