Five Spring Teams Set To Vie For Landmark Conference Titles

Now that the calendar has turned to May, talk of spring sports championships is here. Five University of Scranton spring sports teams will begin their postseason quests today, with each just one good week away from earning a Landmark Conference crown.

The men's and women's lacrosse teams, the softball team and the men's and women's tennis teams all qualified for the Landmark Conference playoffs, which begin Tuesday with women's tennis semifinals. Here's a look at the playoff schedule for each of the five teams.

Men's Lacrosse, fourth seed

  • Semifinal at top-seeded Elizabethtown, Wednesday at 4 p.m.
  • Winner advances to the championship on Saturday at the site of the highest remaining seed at a time to be determined. Second-seeded Susquehanna hosts Catholic on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the other semifinal.

Women's Lacrosse, third seed

  • Semifinal at second-seeded Susquehanna, Wednesday at 7 p.m.
  • Winner advances to the championship on Saturday at the site of the highest remaining seed at a time to be determined. Top-seeded Catholic hosts fourth-seeded Drew on Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the other semifinal.

Softball, fourth seed

  • The Royals face top-seeded Moravian on Friday at 11 a.m. at Moravian in game one of the double-elimination tournament. Second-seeded Catholic faces third-seeded Susquehanna in the second game, and action continues Friday and Saturday.

Men's Tennis, fourth seed

  • Semifinal at top-seeded Goucher on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
  • Winner advances to the championship on Saturday at the site of the highest remaining seed at a time to be determined. Second-seeded Juniata hosts third-seeded Catholic on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the other semifinal.

Women's Tennis, second seed

  • Semifinal vs. third-seeded Juniata, Tuesday, 5 p.m., Birchwood Tennis Club, South Abington Township, Pa.
  • Winner advances to the championship on Saturday at the site of the highest remaining seed at a time to be determined. Top-seeded Elizabethtown hosts fourth-seeded Catholic on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the other semifinal.
