The University of Scranton placed six student-athletes on the Landmark Conference Winter All-Sportsmanship Team, according to a release from the conference office this morning.
The six student-athletes chosen are sophomore Kyle DeVerna (Rockville Centre, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) of men's basketball, senior Katie Broderick (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) of women's basketball, senior Nicholas Denniston (Lords Valley, Pa./Wallenpaupack) of men's swimming & diving, junior Emma Ilseman (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) of women's swimming & diving, senior Nicholas Peragine (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xavier) of men's indoor track & field, and sophomore Michaela Farrell (Kirkwood, N.Y./Seton Catholic Central) of women's indoor track & field.
The All-Sportsmanship Team recognizes student-athletes who epitomize the ideals of sportsmanship. They demonstrate fair play, graciousness in victory and respectfulness in defeat. They are ambassadors for the team, both on and off the field, and galvanize their teammates toward their goals. These student-athletes show respect for themselves, teammates, coaches, opponents, officials, spectators and the campus community as a whole.
The All-Sportsmanship Team was created by the Landmark Student-Athlete Advisory Committee in 2013 as a way to highlight student-athletes who are making an impact.
