Women's Lacrosse (5-3, 1-0 Landmark)
The University of Scranton women's lacrosse team won a pair of games to extend its win streak to three games. The Royals topped Marywood 15-4 on road on Wednesday before opening Landmark Conference play with a 21-4 triumph over Goucher on Sunday in the team's home opener.
In the win over the Pacers on Monday, juniors Kaitlyn Murphy (Somers, N.Y./North Salem) and Elena Gallo (East Meadow, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) scored three goals apiece to lead Scranton's attack while freshmen Bridget Lalley (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) and Jill Henson (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) added a goal and two helpers each.
Scranton followed the non-conference win with a dominating performance on Sunday in the Landmark Conference opener against the Gophers and was led by junior Katie Rogers (Huntington, N.Y./St. Anthony's), who posted a game-high five points. Henson and sophomore Kate Calabro (Seaford, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) added four points apiece while Murphy and Gallo netted three goals apiece in the win.
Sophomore goalkeeper Erin Putnam (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks South) made 12 saves on the week to earn both victories while Calabro paced the Royals with 16 draw controls.
Scranton will travel to Washington, D.C. on Thursday to take on 21st ranked Catholic in a Landmark Conference contest starting at 12:00 p.m.
Men's Lacrosse (6-4, 0-1 Landmark)
The men's lacrosse team opened Landmark Conference play on the road on Saturday, March 24, and suffered a hard-fought 12-10 loss to Goucher.
The Royals cut an 11-6 deficit to 12-10 with 2:37 to play and had three more shots at goal, but could not get any closer. Junior attackman Tim Dolan (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) led the Royals with a career-high five points on four goals and an assist. Sophomore attackman Connor Kirkwood (Millburn, N.J./St. Peter's Prep) finished with three goals. Freshman midfielder Collin Purdy (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) was dominant in the faceoff circle, winning 19 of 23 while finishing with a team-high nine ground balls.
The men's lacrosse team returns to action on Thursday, March 29, when the Royals host Catholic in a Landmark Conference game at 1 p.m. at Fitzpatrick Field.
