University of Scranton athletics teams have had contests postponed this spring due to rain, snow and cold temperatures. Now, the Royals can add wind to that list of Mother Nature's cruel jokes.
Due to the forecast for dangerous winds this afternoon and evening, the softball, baseball and men's lacrosse games have all been postponed. Forecasts in the area call for sustained winds in the 20-30 mph range with gusts of 50 to 60 mph from this afternoon through the evening hours.
No makeup dates have been scheduled for softball, baseball and men's lacrosse.
The softball and baseball teams were scheduled to open their new fields at the Quinn Athletics Campus, but those plans will be put on hold momentarily. Baseball will try again on Thursday as the Royals are scheduled to host Wilkes in a non-conference matchup at 5 p.m. Softball's next games at the Quinn Athletics Campus are scheduled for Saturday when the Royals host Cazenovia in a non-conference doubleheader at 1 p.m.
The men's lacrosse team will now return to action on Saturday when Moravian visits Fitzpatrick Field for a Landmark Conference game at 1 p.m.
