Joe Fitzhenry has been named the Assistant Sports Information Director at The University of Scranton as announced by Director of Athletics Dave Martin.
Fitzhenry began his duties on Monday, August 12.
Fitzhenry comes to Scranton after spending the 2018-19 season as the Assistant Sports Information Director at Albright College. In his new role, he will serve as the primary contact for select sports and will assist in all aspects of the department's communications and publicity efforts for the University's 23 intercollegiate sports.
During his time at Albright, Fitzhenry served as the primary contact for 11 of the Lions' 24 sports and provided statistical/gameday coverage as well as assisting in the maintenance of the athletics website and social media accounts.
Prior to Albright, the Marist College graduate spent three plus seasons in minor league baseball. He had stints with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, the Triple-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies as a Media Relations Assistant in 2015-16 and as a Communications Manager for the Bowie Baysox, the Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles in 2017-18.
A 2014 graduate of Marist, Fitzhenry served as the sports editor for the student newspaper, The Circle, during his senior year at Marist after spending the two previous years as a staff writer. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Communications in May of 2014.
