SCRANTON, Pa. – Junior Kristie Schieck (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) won both the one-meter and three-meter dives to lead the efforts for The University of Scranton women's swimming & diving team in a 133-102 dual meet setback versus the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Sunday afternoon at the Byron Recreation Complex in Scranton.
Scranton falls to 9-1 on the year in dual meets.
Schieck captured the one-meter event with 182.50 points and the three-meter dive with 154.00 points.
Junior Alanna Kelly (Yonkers, N.Y./School of the Holy Child) added a victory in the 100 breaststroke for the Royals as she touched the wall in 1:10.11.
Elsewhere for the Royals, senior Jaclyn Papalski (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) added a pair of second-place finishes in both the 500 free with a time of 5:34.73 and the 1,000 free in 11:13.86. Fellow senior Michelle Kong (Edison, N.J./John P. Stevens) took second in the 100 fly with a time of 1:01.81 and classmate Alyssa Benzija (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) finished second in the 100 free at 56.53 seconds.
Sophomore Sarah Kennedy (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) placed second in the 100 back with a time of 1:06.08 and Benzija added a third-place finish in the 200 IM in 2:19.01.
Scranton also finished second in both the 200 free and 400 medley relays.
The Royals will host Susquehanna in a dual meet on Saturday afternoon at the Byron Recreation Complex with action slated to get underway at 1 p.m.
