Sophomore Brayden Clarke has been named Peggy's Scranton Athlete of the Week following a dominant individual performance that propelled The University of Scranton men's cross country team to a first-place finish at the Oak Ridge Invitational on Friday.
Clarke led the field from start to finish, crossing the line in an impressive 16:16.88—a full 20 seconds ahead of the nearest competitor. His commanding win set the tone for the Royals, who delivered a powerful team effort by placing seven runners in the top ten and claiming four of the top five spots.
With Clarke leading the charge, Scranton's scoring five combined for a team total time of 1:24:40.70, averaging 16:56.14 per runner on the 5K course.
The Royals return to competition on Saturday, September 27 at the Dickinson Long-Short Invitational.
