The University of Scranton baseball team spent five days in the Dominican Republic in January 2016, playing four games, practicing, touring the area, visiting an orphanage and holding a baseball clinic for children of all ages.
The team traveled to Santo Domingo, San Pedro De Macoris and Boca Chica during the trip, experiencing the culture and learning about baseball's deep roots in the country.
“This trip was a very eye opening experience for my team and myself,” said head coach Mike Bartoletti. “The team did an outstanding job of representing The University of Scranton. I feel that we made a positive impression in every person’s life that we came in contact with during our stay.”
Sophomore outfielder Chase Standen chronicled the team's trip as it happened in a series of blog posts that also include photo galleries.
