Sophomore first baseman Kevin Haag (Ossining, N.Y./Ossining/Bridgton Academy) had a big week at the plate for The University of Scranton baseball team, driving in six runs in two games. As a result, Haag has been named The University of Scranton Athlete of the Week.
In the team's first game in nine days, Haag had four RBIs as the Royals defeated Muhlenberg, 5-4, on Tuesday, March 27. He had the key blow in the bottom of the seventh, slamming a two-run double that gave Scranton a 5-3 lead. He also had an RBI sac fly in the first inning and an RBI ground out in the fifth.
On Thursday, Haag went 3-for-4 and had his first home run of the season in a 5-3 loss at Elizabethtown. He had a two-run home run in the top of the third inning and added a pair of singles in the game.
For the season, Haag is hitting .317 with a team-high five doubles and 13 RBIs.
The baseball team returns to action on Wednesday when the Royals host King's at 5 p.m.
