Senior center fielder Tommy Trotter (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) had a big day at the plate and on the bases, and freshman righty Matthew Yard (Wall Township, N.J./Wall) earned his first career victory as The University of Scranton baseball team defeated Marywood, 14-6, on Friday at Volpe Field.

Trotter finished the game 3-for-4 with a triple, three RBIs, three runs, two walks and four stolen bases. He now has 197 career hits, leaving him three shy of becoming the second player on record in Scranton baseball history to reach 200 career hits.

Yard worked 3 2/3 scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win. He did not allow a hit while walking one.

Scranton (11-13) trailed 6-2 going into the bottom of the fourth, but scored four times to tie the game. The Royals then busted the game wide open with eight runs in the bottom of the fifth to take control.

Freshman infielder Jarod Herman (Bethlehem, Pa./Notre Dame-Easton) had two doubles, three RBIs and two runs. Senior right fielder Chase Standen (Newtown Square, Pa./St. Joseph's Prep) singled, tripled, scored three times and drove in a run. Sophomore shortstop Travis Adams (Clark, N.J./St. Joseph's-Metuchen) added two hits, a run and an RBI.

Freshman lefty Alex DeRosa (Hillsdale, N.J./Pascack Valley) gave the Royals a pair of scoreless innings of relief, allowing a hit and a walk while fanning three.

The Royals are back in action on Saturday when they visit Madison, N.J. to take on Drew in a Landmark Conference doubleheader at 12:30 p.m
