Port Charlotte, Fla. – The rubber game of the Landmark Conference baseball series between The University of Scranton and Susquehanna was suspended in the bottom of the second inning with the scored tied 1-1 due to persistent rain in Florida.
The Royals and River Hawks, who both one a game in Friday's doubleheader to open the series, will complete the season finale on a date yet to be determined later this season. Susquehanna is the home team.
Susquehanna (2-6, 1-1 Landmark) took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on Saturday with a run-scoring double before the Royals tied the contest in the top of the second as sophomore Connor Harding (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) drew a walk with the bases loaded to force in the tying run.
At the end of that half inning, the decision to suspend the game was made before junior starting pitcher Bobby Hegarty (Wantagh, N.Y/Wantagh) could return to the hill for a second inning of work.
Scranton (3-6, 1-1 Landmark) will begin a six-game homestand on Wednesday when it takes on Arcadia in a non-conference game starting at 5 p.m. at Volpe Field.
