Junior Kevin Haag (Ossining, N.Y./Ossining/Bridgton Academy (Maine)) of The University of Scranton baseball team had a strong week to help the Royals clinch a berth in the Landmark Conference playoffs for the second year in a row.  As a result, he has been named the Landmark Conference Player of the Week.

Haag batted .500 on the week with seven hits including a home run and a double while driving in four runs and scoring four runs.  He also posted a .611 on-base percentage after also drawing three walks as Scranton went 2-2 (1-1 Landmark) on the week.

Haag highlighted his week with a pair of three-hit performances, going 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI, and two runs scored in an 8-3 win over Elmira on Thursday at Volpe Field.

On Saturday, he had three hits, including a home run, and two runs scored as the Royals clinched the fourth and final seed in the Landmark Conference playoffs with a doubleheader split at Moravian.

For the season, Haag is batting .356 with a .487 on-base percentage and a .653 slugging percentage.  He has 42 hits including a school record 17 doubles and a team-best six home runs.  Haag, who is tied for the team team-lead with 21 walks, also paces the Royals with 38 RBI this spring and has scored 29 runs.

Scranton will host Keystone on Tuesday at 5 p.m. in their regular season finale on Tuesday night before opening the Landmark Conference playoffs on Friday against top-seeded Susquehanna at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.  The double-elimination championship tournament will be played at Scranton's Volpe Field Friday-Sunday with the conference champion earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
