Senior forward Meredith Campbell (Media, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) and freshman goalkeeper Jenna Cyr (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) of The University of Scranton field hockey team have been named All-South Atlantic Region by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association on Wednesday.
Campbell was named to the First Team while Cyr was chosen for the Second Team, marking just the third time in program history that multiple student-athletes earned all-region honors. The duo helped the team finish 15-3 overall and set a school record with 15 consecutive victories.
Campbell had an historic season for the Royals, finishing with a program-record 31 goals (along with seven assists) and 69 points, also a school record. Campbell finished the year as the Landmark Conference's leading goal scorer, and also finished second in all of NCAA Division III in points per game (3.83) and goals per game (1.72).
Earlier this fall, Campbell was named the Landmark Conference Player of the Year and a first-team all-conference selection.
Cyr broke onto the collegiate scene in impressive fashion, earning Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year and first-team honors. She finished the year making 61 saves with a goals-against average of 1.38, tied for eighth-best in program history, after allowing just 16 goals in more than 1,000 minutes of action. She also notched three shutout victories and went 13-3 in goal.
The all-region honors for Campbell and Cyr bring the total number of all-region selections under head coach Colleen Moyer to six.
