Junior forward Gracie McClatchy (Havertown, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) of The University of Scranton field hockey team was an offensive juggernaut last week, totaling five goals and an assist in two victories. As a result, she has been named the Landmark Conference Offensive Athlete of the Week for field hockey.
McClatchy had a hand in all four goals in a 4-1 win over William Paterson on Wednesday, Sept. 5, at Weiss Field, the team's first game on its new home at the Quinn Athletics Campus. She assisted on the team's first goal, then scored the final three for her first three-goal game of her career.
Three days later, McClatchy scored twice in the Royals' 4-0 win over Elmira at Weiss Field. She scored in the sixth and 26th minutes to lead Scranton (3-0) to a 2-0 halftime lead en route to staying unbeaten.
McClatchy has five goals and an assist for 11 points in the team's first three games after finishing last season with 12 points on three goals and six assists.
The field hockey team is back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 11, when the Royals visit Misericordia for a 7 p.m. game in Dallas, Pa.
