GLENISIDE, Pa. – Junior Gracie McClatchy (Havertown, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) scored with 9:25 remaining in the first half and sophomore Jenna Cyr (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) made seven saves to lead The University of Scranton field hockey team to a 1-0 victory at Arcadia on Saturday.
McClatchy's goal, which was her team-leading sixth of the season and third game-winning goal, was assisted by sophomore Megan Gallagher (Thorndale, Pa./Bishop Shanahan). Gallagher now leads the Royals with six helpers on the season and has five assists in her last two games.
Arcadia (3-2) held a 9-3 advantage in shots and a 5-0 lead in penalty corners in the opening 35 minutes of play, but Cyr made four saves in the period to allow Scranton (6-0) to take the one-goal lead into halftime.
The Royals attempted six shots to four for the Knights in the second half looking to extend their lead, but neither side was able to break through as Scranton secured its sixth straight victory to open the season.
The Royals have posted shutouts in Cyr's last three starts. The sophomore has not allowed a goal against in her last 239:27 of action in the Royal's cage.
Arcadia finished the afternoon with a 13-9 edge in shots along with a 9-4 lead in penalty corners.
Scranton will look to keep their win streak intact when returns home on Tuesday to host Marywood in a non-conference tilt starting at 4 p.m. at Weiss Field.
