Sophomore Megan Gallagher (Thorndale, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) of The University of Scranton field hockey team played a key role in three wins for the Royals last week, factoring in six of the team's nine goals. For her efforts, she has been named the Landmark Conference Offensive Athlete of the Week for the second time this season.
Gallagher, who was previously selected as the conference's Offensive Athlete of the Week on September 4, totaled seven points on one goal and five assists as Scranton went 3-0 in a trio of non-conference games.
In a 2-0 victory at Misericordia on Tuesday, Gallagher scored her third goal of the season early in the second half before assisting on four goals in Scranton's 6-1 win over King's on Thursday night. She closed out her big week by setting up the only goal in the Royals' 1-0 triumph at Arcadia on Saturday.
For the season, Gallagher ranks third on Scranton's scoring chart with 12 points on three goals and six assists.
Gallagher and the Royals look to remain unbeaten on Tuesday when they host Marywood in a non-conference tilt starting at 4 p.m. on Weiss Field.
