GILBERT, Ariz. - University of Scranton junior forward Gracie McClatchy (Havertown, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) was named to the 2018 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III All-South Atlantic Region First Team on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, teammate and sophomore midfielder Megan Gallagher (Thorndale, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) was named to the All-South Atlantic Region Second Team. This marks the second straight season that members of the Royals field hockey team nabbed NFHCA All-Region honors, and the fourth time in the last five years it has occurred, as well.
For McClatchy, the All-South Atlantic Region First Team selection adds to the list of awards she has won in 2018 after putting together a stellar season for Scranton in leading the Royals to a 13-6 overall record and a spot in the Landmark Conference championship game for just the second time in program history.
The Landmark Conference Player of the Year and an All-Landmark Conference First Team pick, McClatchy amassed a conference-best 37 points by scoring 16 goals, including five game-winners, and dishing out five assists. She tied for the seventh-most goals in a season in Scranton history and recorded the ninth-most points in a year for the Royals.
Gallagher, meanwhile, adds another award to her list of accomplishments with the selection. An All-Landmark Conference First Team pick in 2018, Gallagher recorded 16 points by scoring five goals and dishing out six assists, the second most in the Landmark Conference. She scored three game-winning goals on the year including the only tally in Scranton's 1-0 win over top-seeded Catholic in the Landmark Conference semifinals.
