Sophomore guard Sean Cummings (Millstone Township, NJ/St. Peter’s Preparatory) gave The University of Scranton men’s basketball team quite a lift in last Tuesday’s 85-65 victory over 18th-ranked Cabrini College at the Long Center.

He came off the bench and connected on 8 of 9 shots from the field to finish with a career-high 17 points in 16 minutes of action to help the 24th-ranked Royals win their second straight game and improve to 4-1 on the season.  For his effort, he has been named the Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week in his respective sport for the period ending Sunday, November 30.

Cummings become the second men’s basketball player to earn a weekly award from the conference this year, joining senior guard Justin Klingman (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights), who was selected for the period ending November 16.

Cummings’ previous career-high was a 9-point effort against Immaculata University on November 15, 2013, at the Long Center.

The Royals will return to Landmark Conference action this Saturday, December 6, against the Eagles of Juniata College at 4:00 p.m. in the Long Center.  Tickets are $5.00 for adults (18-60) and $3.00 for senior citizens (61 and older) and non-University of Scranton students (ages 8-17).  All children, 7 and under accompanied by an adult, will be admitted free, as well as all Scranton students, faculty, and staff.
