The University of Scranton men’s basketball team is ranked 24th in the latest Top-25 poll released by D3hoops.com.

The Royals entered the holidays ranked 16th but fell eight spots after losing a hard-fought 79-74 decision to Husson University (Maine) in the opening round of the D3hoops.com Classic in Las Vegas, Nevada, on December 28.  Since then, Scranton has won four straight to improve to 10-2 overall and remain in a first-place tie with Catholic University in the Landmark Conference with a 4-0 mark.

The Royals are also well representative among the latest NCAA Division III statistical leaders as of games played through January 5.  Senior guard Justin Klingman (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) is second in 3-point field goal percentage shooting (.615), junior forwardBrendan Boken (South Pasadena, Calif./Loyola) is 54th in blocked shots (1.82) and tied 84th in scoring (18.3), and senior guard Ross Danzig (Clarks Green, Pa./Abington Heights/Blair Academy-NJ) is tied for 80th in assists (4.3).

Team-wise, the Royals are 13th in field goal percentage (.504), 65th in scoring defense (62.7 points per game allowed), and 66th in 3-point field goal percentage (.380).

Scranton returns to action this evening at 7:00 p.m. against the Crusaders of Susquehanna University in Landmark Conference action at Houts Gymnasium in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania.  After tonight’s game, the Royals will host Goucher College in Landmark action on Saturday afternoon, January 10, beginning at 4:00 p.m.
