The awards continue to roll in for senior guard Ross Danzig (Clarks Green, Pa./Abington Heights/Blair Academy)—and he hasn’t even scored a basket yet for The University of Scranton men’s basketball team!
Danzig, the reigning Landmark Conference Player of the Year, was named preseason second-team All-American by D3hoops.com today. On October 10, he was selected as one of the top 24 players in the nation by DIII News.
He averaged 20.6 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game in leading the Royals to a 24-4 record, including a 12-2 mark in the Landmark Conference, last winter. Scranton also defeated the Merchant Marine Academy and Susquehanna University in the Landmark postseason tournament to win the conference title for the fifth time in seven years.
The Royals will open their 2014-2015 season this Saturday, November 15, against Centenary College in the semifinals of the Radisson/PNC Bank Invitational tournament at 7:30 p.m. in the Long Center. The first game will feature John Carroll University against Alvernia University.
Tickets are $5.00 for adults (ages 18-60) and $3.00 for senior citizens (ages 61 and older) and non-University of Scranton students and children (ages 8-17). All children, 7 and under accompanied by an adult, will be admitted free, as well as all Scranton students, faculty and staff. In addition, all veterans will be admitted for just $2.00. Sunday’s third-place and championship games will tip-off at 2 and 4:00 p.m., respectively.
