The first day of practice for The University of Scranton
men’s basketball team is next Wednesday, October 15, but the
Royals and senior guard Ross
Danzig (Clarks Green, Pa./Abington Heights/Blair
Academy-NJ) are already generating a buzz.
In a preseason top-25 poll released today by DIII News, the Royals were picked seventh. Wisconsin-Whitewater earned the top spot, followed by Illinois Wesleyan, Amherst, The College of Wooster, Cabrini College, Washington (Mo.) and Scranton.
In addition, DIII News named Danzig as one of the top 24 players in the country.
A three-year starter who has scored in double figures in 74 of 85 games, Danzig has established himself as one of the finest all-around players in Royals' history. He enters his senior year 16th in scoring (1406), 24th in rebounding (565), and 21st in blocks (74) in Scranton history.
Last season, Danzig was named the Landmark Conference Player of the Year and first-team All-Mid-Atlantic region by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).
