It'll be an exciting start to the men's basketball season for The University of Scranton, as the Royals will host a pair of events on the first two weekends of the 2017-18 season.
The Royals, who are the defending Landmark Conference champions, will open the season by hosting the Hilton Scranton Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 17-18, in the John Long Center. Opening night action will feature York vs. Pitt.-Bradford in the opening game at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Royals against PSU-Berks at 7:30 p.m. Saturday's third-place game tips off at 2 p.m., followed by the title game at 4 p.m.
A week later, Scranton will host the Cross-County Challenge, the annual event featuring the Royals, Marywood, Wilkes and King's. On Saturday, Nov. 25, Marywood will face Wilkes at 1 p.m., followed by the Royals vs. King's at 3 p.m. A day later, Marywood will take on King's at 1 p.m., followed by the Royals vs. Wilkes at 3 p.m.
The rest of the Royals' non-conference schedule features trips to Widener (Nov. 21), Cabrini (Nov. 29), College of New Jersey (Dec. 16) and Gettysburg (Jan. 3), and home games against Neumann (Dec. 4), Arcadia (Dec. 12) and Ursinus (Dec. 19).
Scranton will open Landmark Conference play by traveling to Huntingdon, Pa. to take on Juniata on Saturday, Dec. 2, at 2 p.m. The Royals won't return to conference play again until Saturday, Jan. 6, when they host Elizabethtown at 2 p.m.
The Landmark Conference playoffs are set for Wednesday, Feb. 21, and Saturday, Feb. 24.
