Head men's basketball coach Carl Danzig announced on Wednesday that senior guards Ethan Danzig (Clarks Green, Pa./Abington Heights) and Kevin Doolan (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) will serve as team captains for the upcoming season.

The duo is one of the most-seasoned backcourts in NCAA Division III this year, having started a combined 133 games, won two Landmark Conference championships and has played in five NCAA Tournament games. They're play was a key part of the reason the Royals went 66-23 over the past three seasons.

His 81 made 3-pointers were a single-season school record and he scored 20 or more points six times. Danzig was at his best down the stretch and in the postseason, averaging 16.3 points and shooting 56.8 percent from beyond the arc in the team's final six games.

For his career, Danzig averages 9.7 points and 43.2 percent from 3-point range. His 195 made 3-pointers are fourth-most in school history.

Doolan has been a three-year starter for the Royals and was also a second-team all-Landmark Conference honoree last season. He led the Landmark Conference in assists with 131, an average of 4.5 per game, while also averaging 9.1 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game. He averaged 2.2 assists for every turnover and had 13 games of one or no turnovers.

In his career, Doolan has averaged 9.3 points, 3.5 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game. He has 92 made 3-pointers, which rank 18th in program history, and his 285 career assists are ranked 19th in team history.

The Royals will open the 2017-18 season when they host the Hilton Scranton Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 17 and 18, in the Long Center. Opening night action features Pitt.-Bradford against York at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Royals taking on PSU-Berks at 7:30 p.m.
