The University of Scranton men's basketball received some early season recognition on Thursday as the Royals were ranked 24th in the D3hoops.com Preseason Top 25, which was released overnight.
Scranton finished last season 22-7 after winning the Landmark Conference championship and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Head coach Carl Danzig's Royals boast four returnees from that squad – seniors Ethan Danzig (Clarks Green, Pa./Abington Heights), Kevin Doolan (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge), Chris McCullough (Greenlawn, N.Y./Harborfields) and Drew Schankweiler (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) – as well as three others who played key roles on last year's squad.
The Royals are the top vote-getter in the poll among Landmark Conference schools. Susquehanna sits on spot outside the top 25 with the most votes among schools listed in the "Others receiving votes" portion of the poll.
