Sophomore Logan Bailey (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep) of The University of Scranton men's basketball team enjoyed a huge week for the Royals as the team split a pair of Landmark Conference games last week. For his performance, he has been honored as The University of Scranton Athlete of the Week.
Bailey averaged 29.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.5 steals during Scranton's 1-1 week. He shot an outstanding 65.7 percent from the field and went 85.7 percent from the free throw line in the Royals' two games during the week.
In an 80-67 setback at defending Landmark Conference champion Moravian on Wednesday, Bailey poured in a career and game-high 35 points and also pulled down a career and game-best 11 rebounds while collected two steals.
Bailey continued is strong play on Saturday, scoring a game-high 24 points to lead the Royals to a 71-63 victory over Catholic in a Landmark Conference matchup in the Long Center. He also tied for the team-lead in rebounds with eight and matched a career-high for assists with five.
A starter in all 15 games this season for the 13-2 (2-2 Landmark) Royals, Bailey leads the team and ranks second in the Landmark Conference in scoring with 16.6 points per game. His 58.3 field goal percent is second-best in the conference and he also ranks in the top-10 in the league in rebounds (5.6) and steals (1.6) per game.
Bailey and the Royals will shoot for the program's 1,500th win on Wednesday night when they host Susquehanna in a Landmark Conference game starting at 7 p.m. in the John Long Center.
