After posting the two best scoring games of his 2019-20 season, University of Scranton junior guard Logan Bailey (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep) was named the Landmark Conference Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week for the period ending Jan. 12, 2020 on Monday.
For Bailey, this marks the first time in his career at Scranton that he has been named Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week.
Last week kicked off for Bailey and the Royals on Wednesday at Arcadia, wherein a losing effort he led Scranton in the scoring column with 21 points and six rebounds in a tough 84-67 defeat on the road.
But, on Saturday against Elizabethtown in Landmark Conference play, Bailey led the Royals charge in the second half, finishing the day with a season-high 25 points in an eventual 91-60 win for Scranton that saw the Royals outscore E-Town, 55-23, in the second half. Overall, Bailey shot 78.6 percent from the floor (11-of-14) in the victory, as well.
Bailey also dished out seven assists in the win over the Blue Jays, a season-high for the guard.
For the season, Bailey is averaging 15.8 points per game, scoring in double-figures in 10 of the last 11 games the Royals have played in. He's also shooting a team-best 61 percent from the floor on the year entering this week, as well.
Bailey and the rest of The University of Scranton men's basketball team (10-3 overall and 2-0 in the Landmark Conference) returns to action on Wednesday night, hosting Moravian in a Landmark match-up in the John Long Center. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
