For the second time on the 2019-20 season, senior forward Matthew Mancuso (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) of The University of Scranton men's basketball team was named the Landmark Conference's Athlete of the Week on Monday.
Mancuso, who previously earned the award on Nov. 26, 2019, has now been named the Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week six times on his career.
This past week, Mancuso led the Royals to two more conference victories, as Scranton improved to 12-3 overall and remained unbeaten in the Landmark Conference at 4-0. Scranton has also now won eight of their last nine games, as well.
First, against Moravian, Mancuso recorded his eighth double-double of the year with 15 points and 16 rebounds in a big 89-69 win over the Greyhounds at home. On Saturday vs. Catholic, Mancuso scored a game-high 23 points and matched a career-high with six blocks, leading the Royals to a come-from-behind 74-64 win on the road. In the victory, Mancuso became the 44th player in program history to score over 1,000 points in his career, as well.
For the season, Mancuso has scored in double-figures in all 15 games the Royals have played in, averaging 18.7 points per game, while pulling down 11.3 rebounds per game. Mancuso currently leads the Landmark Conference in rebounding average and is second in the league in scoring, as well.
Mancuso and the rest of The University of Scranton men's basketball team returns to action on Wednesday, as they take on Susquehanna in a match-up of the top two teams in the Landmark Conference standings. Tip-off is Selinsgrove is set for 7 p.m.
