Boland, Huggins Shine As Men's Golf Finishes Middle Of The Pack At Glenmaura National Collegiate Invitational

MOOSIC, Pa. – Junior Michael Boland (Dallas, Pa./Holy Redeemer) shot a 3-over-par 74 and senior Tyler Huggins (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) shot 75 as The University of Scranton men's golf team scored sixth- and seventh-place finishes at the Glenmaura National Collegiate Invitational on Monday at Glenmaura National Golf Club.

Boland's season-low round helped the Royals' "A" team finish seventh with a two-day total of 643, 19 shots behind the "B" team, which Huggins led to a two-day total of 624. Boland and Huggins both finished with a two-day total of 8-over-par 150 on the par-71, 6,308-yard course, good for a tie for 14th.

Sophomore Kyle Hayes (East Norwich, N.Y./Oyster Bay) finished with a 77 and seniors Steven Lambrinakos (Stamford, Conn./Trinity) and Kevin Nardella (Spring Brook Township, Pa./North Pocono) shot 78 and 79, respectively, to round out the "B" team's top four scores on the day. Hayes was the only other Royal to finish in the top 20 individually, tying for 19th at 11-over 153.

Freshman Patrick Budicini (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) shot 80 for the "A" team, junior Matthew Kane (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) had 82 and sophomore Erik Ridley (Allentown, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) finished with 84 to round out the team's top four scores.

McDaniel captured the team title with a two-day score of 24-over-par 592, three shots ahead of Rosemont. Muhlenberg was third at 602, followed by Swarthmore (608), King's (618) and the two Scranton teams to round out the top seven in the 12-team event.

King's senior Corey Palma took home the individual title with rounds of 68-72 – 140 to finish 2-under par, one shot ahead of Marywood junior Nicholas Biondi.
